Take Me to the River - An educational public art project engaging with our natural water resources

A collaborative vision between Solstice Arts Centre, Navan and Cineál Research & Design Architects, Take Me to the River is a creative public engagement project bringing communities together in the fostering and long-term preservation of our local waterbodies in County Meath.

Working with a network of artists and environmental experts engaged in research and community participation, Solstice Arts Centre and Cineál will create a series of workshops bringing members of the public together to learn, create, and map local areas of the Boyne River Catchment.

Launching in March at Solstice and focusing on climate change mitigation, water quality and biodiversity improvement along our waterways, the creative workshops will take place in various locations between May and September of this year.

Predominantly outdoors, and beginning with informative engagement from our artists and environmental experts, members of the public will be invited to share their experiences and relationship with the river, creating responses through printmaking, clay, sound recording, sculpting with natural materials, storytelling and film-making.

Combining artistic skills, scientific knowledge and playful activism, Take Me to the River aims to creatively raise awareness about our relationships and long-term responsibilities to our waterways as citizens and residents of the county.
