Solstice invites professional visual artists, makers and applied artists living and working in Co. Meath to participate in our Open Submission Artists Instagram Takeover, a new online initiative as part of our Outside In response to Covid 19 to celebrate and promote the range of exceptional artistic talent in the county while our building is closed.
An Instagram takeover is when someone temporarily takes over another account to create and share content over a defined period. Solstice invites artists to make some short video recordings as examples of what their Solstice Instagram Takeover might look like. We invite you to talk to the camera in an informal ‘show and tell’ style presentation about your artistic practice, showing and discussing current and ongoing art works. We invite you to tell us about the ideas that inspire your work, the process involved in your art making, your daily practice etc. Please also send an artist’s biography/cv with contact details and 3 images of your art work in support of your application.
Twenty artists will be selected and each artist will have full-control of Solstice's Instagram account for a period of 24 hours to highlight their work and practices, as well as show our audience how they are coping with the new realities of lockdown and social distancing. The Open Submission Artists Instagram Takeover will be selected by the Programming Team at Solstice which includes Belinda Quirke, Artistic Director and Brenda McParland, Project Curator. Selected artists will be paid a fee of €200 for their participation.
Deadline: Friday 8 May 2020, 5:00pm
Please send your video, biography and images by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 8 May 2020. You may want to use a free file transfer programme such as WeTransfer to send the files if they are quite large.
