Atlantic Breath: Anam Traidisiúin ó Mhí go Galicia

From the rolling hills of Meath to the rugged shores of Galicia, the Atlantic whispers, carrying melodies across the sea. Atlantic Breath: Anam Traidisiúin ó Mhí go Galicia is a celebration of that shared spirit—weaving together the timeless music traditions of Ireland and Galicia.

The performance will feature the internationally renowned Anxo Lorenzo Ensemble from Galicia, led by master gaita player Anxo Lorenzo, alongside an outstanding line-up of Irish musicians including An Chéad Ghlúin Eile (sean-nós), Éanna Ó Cróinín (uillean pipes), Jennifer Leahy (harp), Iarla Ó Lionáird (sean-nós) and Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh (concertina), together with additional special guests. The performance promises an immersive musical journey, combining haunting melodies, vibrant rhythms and virtuosic musicianship that showcase both the distinctiveness and the common ground of these rich traditional music cultures. 

Presented as part of Meath's contribution to Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026 Culture Programme, the project reflects the importance of international cultural exchange and the role of the arts in fostering understanding across borders. Through collaboration and shared creativity, Atlantic Breath demonstrates how traditional music continues to evolve while remaining rooted in place, history and community.
