Creative Clutch - masterclass in still life paintings

Duration: 240mins
Price: €30
For: Experienced adults & students (16+)

A masterclass in still-life composition, join exhibiting artist William O’Neill in the gallery to explore a fresh approach to objects for painting. Sharing creative considerations, techniques and knowledge from his own artistic practice, participants will leave with a finished artwork and a contemporary approach to still life.

William O’Neill’s paintings are process driven, with a particular interest in how the objects interact with each other and their potential as subject matter. Meticulously creating still-life scenes, which he photographs and works from, his focus within arrangements are the angles, shapes, the positive and negative spaces that occur through careful planning and experimentation of assembly.

The workshop will include a tour of our group exhibition exploring the diversity of approaches to painting, Moments of Being, of which O’Neill is one of thirteen artists with works on display.

This one-off workshop is for experienced painters & art students. Experience in the still-life genre is not essential. Places will be limited to ensure one-to-one support and engagement. Participants must bring their own painting materials, easel etc. A materials list will be shared once booking is complete. Solstice will supply chairs, drawing boards and light refreshments.
