Language Land Sea
Composer: Karen Power | Performer: Loré Lixenberg
Experience the world premiere of Karen Power’s uncategorisable sound and performance work, an immersion into the sounds and sights of some of the world’s most remote (as well as its every day) locations.
Composer Karen Power has made specialised field recordings in far flung places including the Arctic, Amazon, Antarctica, Australian Outback and Namib Desert, and these innate sounds form the basis of this immersive work. This work asks if through hearing natural sound structures and harmonies throughout the globe we can rediscover the evolutionary parallels between humans, land, and the sea?
Language Land Sea is a performance environment that invites us to become attentive while listening. Celebrated vocal experimentalist Loré Lixenberg is our guide through this unique sonic labyrinth, as she rebuilds her inherent relationship with our living planet.
Join us for this absorbing and fascinating multi-sensory piece, and hear from Karen and Loré as they talk about their work together. Q&A with the composer Karen Power and performer Loré Lixenberg follows the performance.
