Join us fo a double bill of two incredible dance shows as part of Meath Move Gathering 2026. There will be a break accompanied by a wine reception between the shows.
Migration | 7pm
Migration is a showcase of three dance performances from artists of various backgrounds focusing on themes of immigrating to and emigrating from Ireland.
1. Aneta Dortová: The Real Thing
This piece traces Dortová’s experience of moving to Ireland and working for six years as a traditional Irish dancer and musician, being shut out of that community as an outsider, and how her instinct to pursue contemporary dance training granted her greater physical and personal freedom in return.
The physical language of the piece combines sean-nós dance and release technique, searching for natural extensions of percussive footwork. A single step can alter our entire structure and leave a lasting impact on our surroundings. Originally performed a cappella, this version incorporates recorded spoken word and flute playing.
2. Síoraí Motion Dance Collective: Ón Bhaile go dtí na Tithe Gloine (From Home to the Glasshouses)
This work is rooted in the lived experience of dancer Katie Robb’s grandparents, who emigrated from Ireland to Guernsey to work picking tomatoes in the island’s glasshouses. It explores a lesser-told narrative of Irish seasonal labour migration, focusing on the physical and emotional realities of agricultural work, displacement, and survival.
Through contemporary dance and embodied storytelling, the piece reconstructs the repetitive gestures of tomato picking, carrying crates, bending in humid glasshouse environments, and the cyclical rhythms of seasonal labour. These physical actions become a way of tracing memory, endurance, and inherited bodily knowledge.
3. SAY Collective: Changing Ground
How do you arrive in a place that is already changing because you entered it?
Responding to the theme of migration, SAY Collective explores arrival, adaptation and belonging through live instant composition. Three performers navigate an ever-shifting landscape, continuously arriving.

Directed by Laura Murphy in collaboration with Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín, The Shake is set to an original track by Alma Kelleher. Guided by dancers and a live vocalist, come join us and dive into your dancing body.

Laura Murphy is an award-winning choreographer, a performer and an educator based in Ireland. Taking an expansive approach to dance, she frames movement in innovative, fresh & unique ways. She creates work for stage, film, installations and socially engaged projects.
