A day of hands-on exploration, community gathering and connection for all ages on this monumental Boyne Valley site, Picnic in the Park 2026 recognises nature as a living archive, containing stories of human relationships with the environment across generations. Celebrating interconnections between biodiversity, archaeology, and Irish culture, join traditional craftspeople, artists, ecologists and local historians. Engage in seasonal customs, traditions and art making, while experiencing our natural, built, and archaeological heritage linked to the River Boyne along its northern banks. Touring locations across the Park, hear lived experiences and knowledge of this cultural landscape, engaging with shared histories to imagine environmental sustainability. Through interactive storytelling and making, families will become Nature Guardians, exploring creativity, imagination, and our relationship with the natural world for future generations.

Taking place on Water Heritage Day, during National Heritage Week, Picnic in the Park offers space and time to learn, reflect, and be inspired. Forming part of Solstice Arts Centre 20th birthday celebrations, collectively respond with care, and creativity, honouring the preservation of our new National Park and its exceptional cultural and historical significance.

Further details including meeting point and recommendations will be shared in the days leading up to the event.
