Siún O’Connor
Siún O’Connor is a filmmaker from Walterstown, Co. Meath. After completing an MA in Film & TV Studies in DCU, O’Connor co-produced her first short film. Mechanic won the Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Live Action Film at the Galway Film Fleadh 2013 and began a career in film production.
Commissioned by Solstice, Siún's latest short film Irreverence is a dark comedy about a strained mother-daughter relationship. It is O'Connor’s writer/directorial debut; the script won Best Short Film to Bring Change at the Paris International Film Festival in January 2021, and has since featured at numerous film festivals internationally.
Meath Film Festival
In 2021, Siún founded Meath Film Collective, who hosted the first Meath Film Festival in Solstice on September 17th 2022. The festival provided great opportunities for filmmakers to get involved, showcase their work and strengthen the vibrant filmmaking community in the county. It highlighted the talent in Meath and the day was filled with workshops, discussions and film screenings.
