This site-specific event at Townley Hall focuses on the preservation and expansion of our riparian habitats through artistic engagement, practical actions, and hands-on learning.
Supporting Boyne Rivers Trust Floodplain Woodlands Project take a sensory wooded walk exploring the habitat in this area of historical, cultural and natural beauty. Witness river dynamics from a viewing point across to Oldbridge and discuss the importance of restoring our woodlands with members of the Trust and Crann, Ireland’s leading voluntary tree organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of our trees, hedgerows and woodlands. ‘Tune-in’ to the language of the trees and their hidden ecosystems with Cineál and guided by artist Penelope Lacey, create responses collectively with found and natural materials.
Taking the short drive up to Townley Hall Gardens, participate in the Trusts new Tree Nursery. Learn about the on-going collection, propagation and nurturing of local, native trees for planting in various locations in the coming years. Assist in the preparation of seedlings and respond to the environment through mark-making using oak gall ink, and willow charcoal.
A tour of Townley Hall will bring this day of shared learning, and creativity to a close.
