Broaden creative thinking through oral and visual literacy by exploring contemporary artworks in our Gallery spaces. With two contrasting exhibitions between September and December, this is an opportunity for students to investigate, analyse and reflect on multiple perspectives. Using Visual Thinking Strategies explore artists’ narratives through their use of materiality in sculpture and expanded practice in Thresholds to the Unseen. Using cross-curricular links, experience an overview of contemporary visual arts practice throughout Meath in our annual Surveyor exhibition.

These sessions support the Junior and Senior Cycle, placing students at the centre of the learning process. When visiting, students will receive specific information that embraces the three strands – Research, Create and Respond, with particular focus on Content Area 3: Today’s World.

_____________

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is an inquiry-based method of visual processing - looking, describing and discussing what we see in a work of art. It is about listening to others, responding and expanding thoughts and new possibilities revealed within group engagement. VTS improves oral and visual literacy, problem solving and collaborative interactions among students.
