Especially designed for a small class or youth group aged between 9-17 years, Coral-ations is a two-day ceramic workshop with exhibiting artist Katherine Sankey. 

In Workshop 1 explore Katherine’s hand-making art practice that wrestles with absurdity and humour. Under her guidance, dive into the world of corals; experiment by bending and curving clay, and create weird and wonderful shapes and creatures inspired by her assemblages in the gallery spaces. 

Following Workshop 1, your clay creation will be fired in a ceramic kiln, bonding the clay particles together making it stronger, and more permanent. Responding to form and colour in Workshop 2, continue your exploration of material and breathe life into your artwork with painted decoration. 

Katherine Sankey’s material, hand-making art practice embodies the construction of semi-organic apparatuses that explore our relationship with and perception of our planet. A sculptor working in clay and other materials, she has been offering workshops for young people for many years, and looks forward to meeting your group.

Please note this event comprises of two workshops. Educators/youth workers and student group must commit to both dates and times when booking.
