Take a closer look at the artworks and materials in our gallery spaces and make sculptures with exhibiting artist Joanne Reid.

Guided by Joanne, learn how artists communicate their thoughts, experiences, fears and passion for making art using found and salvaged objects.

Exploring Thresholds to the Unseen, discover why this group of contemporary artists combine natural and manufactured objects to investigate themes of landscape, memory, otherworldliness, consumption and the environment. Pupils will then respond to their encounters with materials such as cardboard, paper and plastics, creating personal sculptures based on their observations.

This workshop supports the primary visual arts curriculum, exploring areas such as looking and responding, design, construction, and self-expression.

Joanne Reid is a visual artist working primarily in sculpture. Her work often begins as a direct response to encounters with the materials, objects and spaces that form our built environment. In her practice, she often works with building materials such as steel, plywood, concrete, plaster and timber. Her most recent work plays with a merging of forms and the natural and the built world.
